The Altar
Wild Herbs, Roots, Plaster and Soil, 2020
In this project, I worked around an abstract idea of "sacrifice." I had trouble understanding my ceramic sculptures at this time. The solution was a change of material, from ceramics to plaster. Creating an altar and picking a plant from the forest, sacrificing what I had previously created for something new.
"I once heard that my time is now, so I touched the earth like a memory I seem to have forgotten. I made a sacrifice. Everyone does it all the time. They sacrifice and they burn."
